Is cone yarn easy to work with?
Working with cone yarn is very easy and offers unlimited possibilities for choosing color, composition, and yardage. One of the main advantages of cone yarn is the continuous yardage. This means you could knit an entire project without a single knot.
How to determine the amount of yarn for a project?
Every project is individual. The amount of yarn depends on the size, your knitting tension, the pattern you've chosen, and the type of yarn. However, here are some basic parameters to give you an approximate guide. A sweater (stockinette stitch) in size S requires about 1200m of yarn. Size M requires about 1400m, and size L - 1500m. We advise you to consult with us for a more accurate calculation.
Can plant and animal fibers be combined in one knitwear piece?
Yes, it is possible. They are rarely combined, but there are successful and exciting items. Often we can combine, for example, Mohair with Linen and sequins, or Mohair with Cotton and sequins.
What is blocking?
In knitting, this refers to the moisture-heat treatment of the finished piece. Knitwear requires proper care—specifically correct washing, drying, and steaming. However, the order of these actions may differ depending on the yarn used. Cashmere needs to be soaked in warm water with a detergent designed for woolens, then rinsed, squeezed in a towel, and left flat to dry. It is then steamed to align and smooth the stitches so the knitwear takes your desired shape. If the yarn is linen or contains elastane, however, this process follows a different sequence. First, the finished piece should be steam-ironed (so the linen can soften or the elastane can perform its function), after which we proceed to wet treatment and finish with heat again.
